About ERV

Welcome to Eric's Railfan Video. Sometimes people ask me why I produce railroad videos? The answer is simple - I enjoy it!

The opportunity to share the action I have caught on videotape with other railfans is why I have started Eric's Railfan Video.

Back in the late 1980's I began to shoot railroad videos with a Sony Video 8 F40 camcorder. In the early 1990's I edited the footage I had compiled and advertised a number of titles in Trains magazine. They include my first video, The Trains of Southwestern Ontario, followed by the CSX in Canada, Action on the Canada Southern, and then Rails Ontario Volume 1.

After a time away from producing railroad videos, I have returned and my goal is to produce the best quality railroad videos possible, documenting railroading action not covered by most of the much larger video producers.

At present I am working on a number of railroad video projects, and I will update the site when they become available.

Lately, I have received a number of requests to re-introduce some of my earlier railroad videos on DVD. Unfortunately, the master edited copies of "The CSX in Canada" and "Action on the Canada Southern" have deteriorated to a point that it is not possible to capture them to digital video, or even make further VHS copies. I do, however, have the original in-camera footage and may offer re-edited versions of these two programs in the future. In the meantime, I will continue to work on a fix.

I have been able to re-master [Rails Ontario Volume 1] (1993) and this program is now available once again, on either VHS or DVD.

In the meantime, I invite you to take a peak at my first video since 1993, [CSX's Canadian Division]. This 90 minute video takes a comprehensive look at CSX's operation in southern Ontario between 2003 and later 2005.

If you have any suggestions or railroad topics you would like to see put on video, please let me know.

Eric
